Zaamin

General information

Zaamin city (or Zomin) is located in Uzbekistan, in Jizzakh region. In 1986 it got the status of the city. It is also one of the administrative centers of Jizzakh region. Approximately 15,000 people live there today. Despite the small size, Zaamin does not lose popularity among tourists.

By the way, the second and current president of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev was born here.

How to get to Zaamin

The distance between Zaamin and Tashkent is about 300 km. If your come from Tashkent, you can get to Zaamin by train (transit run through Jizzakh) or by car. Choosing the second option, you'll have to depart from "Almazar" subway station.

Comfortable buses and minibuses are also provided for tourists by tour operators. By the way, this type of transport is the most affordable.

Climate

The climate here is subtropical. If we talk about the best time to travel there, we need first to determine our purpose. Having the abundance of coniferous forests, Zaamin is excellent place to go for both year-round treatment and prevention, and for winter recreation. Not without reason it is often called the "Uzbek Switzerland".

What to see

So, the first thing that is worth visiting during the trip is Zaamin National Nature Park (it is also a reserve). It is located on the area of 24 thousand hectares. The reserve is open for visits throughout the year.

One can see a halved hazel in the territory of the park. Two trunks are separated by a running stream. The age of the tree is more than 7 centuries.

Shar-Shara waterfall is also located here. Every year thousands of tourists come here to visit Sher-Bulok spring. According to the legend, the water from the spring has medicinal properties.

History lovers are advised to visit the ruins of Muk fortress. With the support of a guide, the most courageous can descend into the depths of the ancient silver mines.

Where to stay in Zaamin
