The Alley of Writers - a collection of the best literary minds
The Alley of Writers is a completely new and unique place in the city of Tashkent, the only one of its kind in the city. It is located in the Alisher Navoi National Park of Uzbekistan, in the Chilanzar district on Furkat Street, near the Parliament of Uzbekistan. The National Park is very popular with locals, it has various attractions, cafes and a large artificial lake where people can ride catamarans in the summer time. The Alley of Writers is a new highlight of the park now. It is a well-groomed path, on the path of which stands a single ensemble of monuments to outstanding Uzbek writers. Their composition includes monuments of Hamid Alimjan, Gafur Gulyam, Zulfiya, Abdullah Kahhar, Oybek, Said Ahmad and, of course, the great Turkic poet Alisher Navoi, whose monument was erected here in 1991. The most famous of his works are "Treasury of Thoughts", "Forty Hadiths", "Khamsa (Quintuple)" and many others, known throughout the world.
The new building of the Writers' Union of Uzbekistan built recently on the territory of the National Park, offers great possibilities: it has a rich library, reading and exhibition halls, editorial offices of literary magazines of Uzbekistan, and a bookstore is planned to be open soon where it will be possible to purchase the latest novelties of local literature. Thus, this truly spiritual place will be gathering all talented writers of our time, educational activities and various exhibitions will be held here, which will help to get better acquainted with the literary life of Uzbekistan.
This is an excellent opportunity for foreign tourists and guests to touch the spiritual life of the people of Uzbekistan, to study the national literature of our outstanding writers, to walk around the green park with family and enjoy the real spiritual life actively developing in our country.
